You Have Back Pain: What Could be the Causes?

Everyone is familiar with back pain. It’s hard to come across someone who has never encountered this malady.

Everyone is familiar with back pain. It’s hard to come across someone who has never encountered this malady.

Sometimes it is enough to sit in an uncomfortable position for a period of time to begin to feel discomfort, especially in the lower back. Though this may not be what we may call a problem just yet.

The phrase “back pain” has certain direct causes, and your diagnosis may be totally unpredictable, given that most people have no idea why they have back pain. It seems to come so suddenly and unexpectedly.

Correct diagnosis is the first step. The main challenge in diagnosing back pain is that its causes can number in dozens. Bad posture, temperature fluctuations, even infections and kidney stones can result in the sensation of back pain. When the symptoms accumulate, diagnosis becomes more challenging. This is why it is important to address the issue as soon as it begins to manifest itself.

People usually don’t know what to do when they experience back pain, especially when the pain is new. One thing that should definitely be avoided is self-treatment, because this can exacerbate the problem. Only an experienced doctor can diagnose you properly by means of conducting tests and evaluating the results.

Such tests as MRI and CT-Scan are some of the most effective ways to conduct a diagnostic procedure. However, in some cases, an experienced doctor or manual therapist can determine what is causing the pain and therefore how to treat it just by conducting a manual test and asking a number of questions.

Although back pain can have many causes, they are all related to the spine in one way or the other. One of the most simple and relatively harmless causes of pain is acute muscle stretching (a pull). In such a case, the problem is the pain that is caused by a spasmodic muscle. This is very common and can be treated relatively quickly and easily. Athletes and people who perform physical work often suffer from this condition.

Sometimes, pain can be caused by a spinal fracture. Interestingly, the patient may have no recollection where he or she could have received the trauma.

Another unpleasant cause is intervertebral disc displacement. The symptom of this problem is usually manifested in sharp and severe back pain that limits mobility.
